The Chinese tech giant, Vivo, may launch its V17 smartphones series in India before Diwali this year. Sources suggest that the company would launch the series in mid-October. If launched, V17 would be the first smartphone from the company to feature a dual pop-up front camera. It is also expected that the device will bring quad rear camera module, but there is no certainty about this. The device is said to be the successor to the Vivo V15, which is a mid-range offering from the brand that was launched back in April.
Vivo is known for making camera-centric devices. It is also the first company to introduce the pop-up selfie camera in the smartphone industry with the Vivo NEX. Most of the smartphones that achieve a notch-less design using a pop-up camera mechanism offer a single lens as the selfie shooter. Vivo V17, if introduced, will continue the company’s legacy of being a pioneer in offering unconventional designs.
Besides the standard V17 smartphone, Vivo could also introduce a V17 Pro model, but there are fewer vibes to assert its arrival. Also, for the V17, the company did not reveal much except the fact that it will sport a dual pop-up selfie camera.
Vivo has also refrained itself from providing any details regarding the pricing of the V17 but based on a few details of its specs, it is safe to assume that it would be a flagship device. The upcoming smartphone is expected to bring improvement over its predecessor Vivo V15 that had been in the news owing to the rumours of its discontinuation, which has been refuted by the company recently.
Diwali is one of India’s largest festival and serves as fertile ground for the companies to unveil their new offerings. Vivo enjoys a fair presence in the Indian market. Apart from V17, it will also launch Vivo S1 in the country on 7 August.
