Samsung Galaxy Fold is the first device from the company that comes with a folding display. It has been announced back in February and was initially set to be released in the month of April. But owing to the negative reviews shared on the basis of its promotional units, Samsung had to delay the launch. Recently, a report has surfaced online, which states that Samsung’s folding smartphone will be announced in the coming weeks.
According to the report by CNET, a spokesperson from Samsung has informed via email that the launch date of the device will be announced ‘in the coming weeks.’ While there is no specific timeline provided for the launch of the much-awaited premium device, Samsung has shown its commitment to the release of the device. This also indicates that even after so much struggle that was previously related to the smartphone, Samsung is not going to abandon it by any chance.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung has scheduled the launch of the Galaxy Fold in the month of April but owing to the poor response to its promotional units, the company had to postpone it. To recall, Galaxy Fold received negative reviews for the poor built of its display, which was prone to damages. Upon investigation, it was found that the protective layer, which looked like a removable screen was not actually removable and instead it was a part of the display structure. Moreover, the display of the device was said to have a durability issue since it was prone to damage.
Reportedly, the chief of Samsung Mobile DJ Koh said last month that the launch date would be on the track and it won’t be too late, which is why Samsung should now actually provide a specific time to release its ultra-premium device. Plus the Galaxy Fold isn’t the only device that is on hold by the company as the Galaxy Home smart speaker is also reported to be launched this year. Although these delays are very unusual for a company like Samsung, which is known for its constant maintenance of launch.
Considering the specification of Samsung Galaxy Fold, it sports a 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, which bears a screen resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels along with a pixel density of 362 PPI. It is based on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, which is coupled to a 12GB RAM and a whopping 512GB non-expandable storage. In the optics department, the smartphone presents a unique setup of six lenses including both primary and secondary levels.
The device is provided with a 4380mAh battery that has fast charging technology as well as wireless charging support. Although there are no reports regarding the pricing of the device, it was tagged with $1,980 (roughly Rs. 1.4 lakhs).
