Reliance JioFiber Users Continue to Enjoy Free Services for a Month Due to Delay in the Integrated Billing System

Reliance Jio won’t be able to charge customers availing home broadband services for at least a month. According to ET Telecom, the company has been migrating to the integrated billing system from a mobile billing system, causing an inevitable delay. Reliance Jio is yet to come in terms of the integrated billing system. Further, the company is yet to train the sales and marketing personnel to sell home broadband plans. Hence, the current customers who have signed up for JioFiber trials, as well as the new customers who have paid Rs 2,500 security deposit, would continue to enjoy free broadband services for at least a month. 

Delay in the Commercial Monetisation of JioFiber Home Broadband Services

Mukesh Ambani has announced the commercial launch of JioFiber services in September. Before the launch, many customers have signed up for the JioFiber trials and are being offered the Jio Preview offer. The company has launched a total of six ultra-high-speed broadband plans offering data speeds of up to 1GBPS. JioFiber plans start from Rs 699 to higher Rs 8,499, offering varying data benefits. The company is also offering special services like “First Day First Show service” on a few of its premium plans. Besides, customers can avail free goodies like Bluetooth speaker, HD LED TV sets, extra data, and additional services on select JioFiber plans.

Currently, there are around 5 lakh JioFiber customers in the country who have signed up for JioFiber trials. It appears that these customers are not approached by the company to buy specific broadband packs. Even the new JioFiber customers who have paid Rs 2,500 refundable security deposit are not billed for home broadband services. The converged billing system capable of billing both 4G mobility as well as home broadband services is the sole reason for the delay in charging the customers. Also, the company seems to be running frequent checks on the billing system to ward off any unnecessary complications once the actual billing system comes into existence.

JioFiber Customers Continue to Avail Free Broadband Services

According to the source, the customers who opted for the home broadband trials about two years ago, continue to enjoy free broadband services. As of now, they have not been approached by any Jio Executive to opt for a specific plan. After the exhaustion of set 100GB data limit per month, they can do multiple 40GB recharges for free for additional data requirements.
