Update: Xiaomi Founder and Chairman, Lei Jun just confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will indeed launch alongside the Redmi TVs on August 29 in China. When a user asks Lei Jun in one of the comments whether Note 8 will launch on the same day, Lei Jun added his confirmation.
Redmi Product Manager, Lu Weibing, announced the launch of the all-new Redmi TV through his official Weibo account. Redmi TV launches on August 29 in China and the screen size is 70-inch. He also said “Redmi’s first TV, 70-inch, giant screen! TV, not only to is smart, but also big, the bigger the more shocking! Big screen great wisdom! See you on August 29!” Going by the poster released by Lu Weibing, the Redmi TV looks sleek, very thin and is completely bezel-less all the sides. Redmi TV box has leaked on Weibo, which indicates that retail stores in China have already started getting the inventory from the company.
Redmi TV, just like Mi TVs, will run Android TV OS-based Patchwall UI that is going to be the main USP of Redmi TVs also. It is not known at the moment whether Redmi will take a clue from Honor Vision TVs in incorporating some features and specs on its TVs. Honor Vision Smart TVs feature a pop-up camera at the top, run Harmony OS. The Honor TV with 55-inch 4K HDR display is priced at just CNY 3,799 in China.
Redmi TVs will be sold across all the major e-commerce platforms in China including Mi.com. Although not announced officially, but we expect Redmi Note 8 series to launch alongside Redmi TVs in China. There is no word officially whether Redmi will launch the TVs in the Indian market or not. We will bring you the update once we know them officially.
