Xioami’s spin-off brand Redmi launched two flagship level smartphones the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro in China last month. Redmi has also teased that the phones will indeed launch in India soon as True Flagship Killer. Redmi managed to sell 2 lakh units of the Redmi K20 Pro during the first sale in just in China. Now, through the latest tweet, Manu Kumar Jain, MD Xiaomi India announced that the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will launch in India within 6 weeks i.e., in the mid-July.
Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro India Launch: What We Know
Redmi K20 Pro which was launched in China has been defined as “Flagship Killer 2.0”. The smartphone has been priced at CNY 2,499 (approx Rs 25,000) in China, whereas, the K20 is available at a starting price of CNY 1999 – that roughly translates to Rs 20,000. Though the K20 and K20 Pro fall in two different price brackets, the major difference lies only in a few specifications – processor and fast charging technology.
The Redmi K20 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor under the hood, whereas, the K20 sports an 8nm Snapdragon 730 chipset. With respect to the charging, the Redmi K20 Pro is equipped with a 27W fast charging in contrast to 18W fast charging present in the K20. The other area where two smartphones differ with each other is GPS. The Redmi K20 Pro sports dual-band A-GPS and the Redmi K20 is equipped with regular single-band A-GPS.
In the memory department, the Redmi K20 Pro comes with 256 GB + 8 GB RAM, 128 GB + 6/8 GB RAM and 64 GB + 6 GB RAM. The Redmi K20 comes with 256 GB + 8 GB RAM, 64/128 GB + 6 GB RAM. There are reports that the K20 Pro will soon get a 12GB RAM variant at least in China. The two devices shine in the camera department by having some top class specifications. Both the phones are equipped with 48 MP (wide),
8 MP (telephoto), 2x optical zoom and 13 MP (ultrawide) triple rear cameras. In the front, there is a 20 MP popup selfie camera for taking high-quality photos.
By launching in India, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will take on the smartphones like OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, Honor 20 Pro, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, etc. It is expected that Redmi will keep the pricing of both K20 and K20 Pro very competitive and will bring nightmares to OnePlus and Honor in coming days.
