Redmi 8A Full Specifications Leaked Before Official Launch: Snapdragon 439 SoC, 5000mAh Battery and More

Xiaomi‘s sub-brand Redmi is all set to unveil the Redmi 8A on September 25 in India. The Redmi 8A is the latest addition to its A-series of smartphones and is touted as the successor to the Redmi 7A that was launched in July this year. Now, a leak put on Slashleaks has revealed the complete specifications and features of Redmi 8A. The website has posted the live image of Redmi 8A’s retail box, thereby revealing its specifications in full glory.

Yesterday, Redmi also set up an event page on its official India site, highlighting some critical features of Redmi 8A. The event page teased the new smartphone with important specifications that include a large battery,  faster charging, an immersive viewing experience. The event page also mentions that the Redmi 8A also lets you capture “Pro like pictures” and comes with Aura wave grip design that gives great hand feel.

Specifications and Features of Redmi 8A

As evident from the Redmi 8A Retail box live image, the phone sports 6.22-inch HD+ Full-screen display and comes equipped with octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. The phone is powered by 3GB RAM and has an internal storage capacity of 32GB. It does have a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion, but there is no mention of the expandable storage. 

In terms of camera, the Redmi 8A has a 12MP AI rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. The phone is backed up by a massive 5000mAh battery an upgrade over 4000mAh battery of the Redmi 7A. Further, the battery supports the 10W fast charging facility. Also, the smartphone has an AI unlock feature, and it remains to be seen as to whether it features a fingerprint sensor. The smartphone also runs the latest MIUI on top of the Android 9 Pie operating system.

Expected pricing of Redmi 8A

As of now, there are no concrete details about the price of the Redmi 8A. However, the smartphone is expected to be in a budget-friendly segment similar to its predecessor, the Redmi 7A. The Redmi 7A base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is priced at Rs 5,999. Given the upgraded features over the Redmi 7A, the base variant of the Redmi 8A with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage is expected to be priced around Rs 7,999.
