Realme 5, 5 Pro Confirmed to Launch in India on August 20 as Flipkart Exclusive

Realme is set to launch the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro with a quad-camera setup on August 20 at 12.30 pm via Flipkart. Today, Flipkart started teasing the launch of the Realme 5 series through a dedicated microsite. The Realme 5 and 5 Pro would be the successor to Realme 3 and 3 Pro respectively that were launched earlier this year. It is interesting to note that Realme has skipped 4-series as number 4 is considered as unlucky in Chinese culture. Further, the e-commerce giant highlighted the rear-camera aspects of the upcoming phone. The Realme 5 series is confirmed to sport a quad-camera setup at the rear along with an LED flash.

The teaser on Flipkart revealed that the upcoming Realme-5 series would feature four cameras that include a primary sensor, ultra-wide-angle lens, super-macro, and the portrait lens. The primary lens comes with a large aperture and pixel size that is ideal for low-light photography. The smartphone will have a secondary ultra-wide-angle lens that can capture a 119-degree field of view. Then there is a tertiary sensor with a super macro lens that captures 4cm close up images and finally the depth-sensing portrait lens that promises to offer higher sharpness and clarity.

Meanwhile, Madhav Sheth, head of Realme India has confirmed that the quad-camera set up would flaunt a 48MP sensor rather indirectly. He tweeted 4+48+586+119 that correlates to 4 camera set up will have a 48MP primary shooter with Sony IMX 586 sensor, along with  119-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor.

Last week, Realme announced its 64MP camera phone that is set to debut in India before Diwali. The company confirmed that the upcoming 64MP camera phone would ship with Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. The Realme X Pro is likely to be the smartphone to ship with the 64MP sensor. Realme also detailed its plans to launch Quad camera phones in Realme series, Realme X series and Realme Pro series.
