PUBG Mobile Lite launched in India; optimised for smartphones with less than 2GB RAM

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, popularly known as PUBG is now also available as Mobile Lite version in India. The new version is claimed to run smoothly on smartphones even with less than 2GB RAM. Currently, the regular PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular games on the Google Play store.

Notably, this launch has been announced in India after almost a year of its debut in the Philippines. The Lite version is developed, keeping in mind mainly the mid-range segment smartphones. It has been built with Unreal Engine 4, which is similar to the platform that powers PUBG Mobile but is more optimised for the smartphones having less than 2GB RAM. Also, it gets a smaller map built for 60 players, whereas, the regular version can accommodate up to 100 players.

“With an installation pack of just 400 MB and built for devices having less than 2GB RAM, the Lite version is set to run smoothly for all players. Keeping in mind that more than half of the smartphone users in India use an entry-level smartphone, the specifications that the Lite version of the game is designed to accommodate exactly that. New players joining in will be eligible for various rewards, in the form of new gears and vehicles,” the company said in a statement.

Although the company has mentioned that the size of the game is 400MB, the downloaded game comes to be around 491MB.

Furthermore, there is also a new version 0.12.0 update for the game that will add a new weapon “RPG-7” and a “Buggy” vehicle along with three more locations. The game has already been downloaded by over 5 million users since its launch.
