It has been only a few months now that OPPO had launched the Reno 3 series in India and China. Now, it looks like OPPO is already prepping up to launch the Reno 5 series, according to the popular leakster from China. Digital Chat Station reports that the Reno 5 series will indeed launch in May 2020 and this is for the first time we are hearing the name. Reno series is renowned for the amazing camera features that include 10x zoom in the Reno (1st gen), 44MP selfie camera in the Indian variant of the Reno 3 Pro. Number 4 has been an unlucky number in China and all the China-based brands skip their 4-series smartphones for the the 5-series. Same is the case with OnePlus, Realme, and Vivo which skipped OnePlus 4, Realme 4 and Vivo V4.
To recap, OPPO had launched two 5G smartphones – Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro in China in December 2019. The devices sport MediaTek Dimensity 1000L and Snapdragon 765G chipsets respectively. Globally, the Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro were launched with Helio P90 and Helio P95 chipsets and lack 5G support. The OPPO Reno 3 Pro global variant has a 64MP quad camera setup and is the world’s first smartphone with the 44MP selfie camera. Both the devices come with 30W fast charging support and a 4025mAh battery.
Reno series has become very much popular in India as well. OPPO has accounted for 7.5% market share in Q4 2019 and majority has been contributed by A-series and Reno series models. We will have to wait and see if the Reno 5 series will launch in May or will postpone due to coronavirus outbreak that is happening all across the world.
