HMD Global has introduced its budget smartphone Nokia 4.2 in India, which was announced to be released on Tuesday. This handset had been unveiled in the Mobile World Congress this year in February. It seems that the smartphone has taken a long time to reach the Indian market. However, it brings two interesting features that include a dedicated Google Assistant button and a notification light provided in the power button.
According to the HMD Global, the Nokia 4.2 will appear for sale today itself on the company’s own online store and the smartphone is priced at Rs. 10,990 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant. The company has also provided a launch offer for the consumers, which include a promo code, called ‘LAUNCHOFFER’, which allots Rs. 500 instant discount on the MRP. This offer will be available until June 10, 2019. Moreover, Nokia will be selling the device exclusively for a week after which, it would be available in the retail markets like Reliance, Croma, Sangeetha, Poorvika, MyG and Big C, starting May 14.
Considering the specs of the budget-oriented smartphone from HMD Global, the smartphone flaunts a 5.71-inch HD+ display, which features a slim-bezel design with a dot-notch on top. The screen has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a pixel density of 270 PPI. The device has been furnished with 2.5D glass on both sides, which would provide a comfortable grip. There is a dual rear camera with 13MP and 2MP assisting lens, both having an aperture of f/2.2. The front camera is provided with an 8MP sensor, which features an f/2.0 aperture.
The smartphone is based on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, which is paired with a 3GB RAM and an Adreno 505 graphics processor. In terms of storage, the device houses an internal memory of 32GB, which is further expandable up to 400GB via the hybrid slot. As a power supplier, it has a Li-ion battery with 3,000mAh capacity. In the connectivity part, one can get dual SIM slot, Micro-USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, FM radio, NFC, VoLTE as well as VoWiFi support. The privacy of the users would be ensured by facial recognition technology. The dimension of the smartphone is 148.95 x 71.30 x 8.39mm with a weight of 161 grams.
The Nokia 4.2 also has a 2GB RAM variant, which the company has not launched yet. It can also be said that the company is not planning to avail the other variant anytime now. However, with the 3GB RAM variant that almost carries a complete spec sheet, there would not be room for the other variant to grab attention. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone is available in Nokia’s online site with Pink Sand and Black colour options.
