Moto Z4 reportedly gets a US FCC certification; key specs of the device surfaced online

Motorola has been planning for its next launch, which is reportedly to be the Moto Z4 that falls in its mid-range price segment. Before that, a device from the company that bears the model number XT1980-3 has received a US FCC certification. Concerning the rumors of launch of the Lenovo-owned company’s mid-range smartphone, the model number of XT1980-3 could be assumed as Moto Z4 Play. Further, several specs of the specifically certified smartphone have been surfaced online according to which, the smartphone seems to be identical to Moto G7 Plus. The battery size suggests it could be the one that belongs to the Moto Z series.

According to the reports, the Moto Z4 has been spotted on the US FCC listing with a model number of T56X62, which is an indication that the launch date of the smartphone is closer. Interestingly, the FCC listing of Moto Z4 was first spotted by XDA Developers. Also, one of the reports suggests that the Moto Z4 goes by an internal codename ‘foles’, which is speculated to be compatible with Moto Mods just like previous Moto Z-series devices.

The smartphone would be provided with a 3,600mAh battery, which will be featuring an 18W charger that in turns indicates that there will be fast charging technology. However, there is no information about a few additional features that include expandable memory slot, wireless charge support, and display design.

In terms of optics, the smartphone comes with a 48MP rear camera (S5KGM1SP from Q Technology) along with a 12MP resolution. It would be carrying a 25MP front camera (Samsung S5K2X5). Motorola had previously announced Moto Z3 Play in June 2018. In any case, if the XT1980-3 is a variant of the Moto Z4 Play, the smartphone can be expected to launch very soon, say in the coming weeks. The certified device with model number XT1980-3 is likely to appear on few other websites of certification agencies, which would help with the rumor mill whether it is the speculated Moto Z4 Play variant or a completely different smartphone.

As mentioned earlier, the upcoming model of Moto Z is not going to be a flagship device, instead, it falls under the mid-range price category. And if this report is true, then the smartphone would probably get a huge response in the market.
