Update on December 4th, 15:10 IST: Xiaomi is now rolling out the update to Mi TV 5 Pro 55 “/ 65” and TV Pro 55 “/ 65” versions in China. To make the video call, you need to connect the Webcam to the USB port of the TV and log in to the Mi Video call app on the TV. On the mobile, you need to download the TV Superman app and connect to the TV.
Xiaomi had launched the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro in China earlier this month. The Mi TV 5 series comes with a huge upgrade regarding the hardware compared to the Mi TV 4 lineup. The Pro and non-Pro variants mostly share common features except in lacking Quantum Dot screen, MEMC motion smoothening technology (with a dedicated chip), and HDR 10+ on the non-Pro variant. Today, Mi TV official Weibo account as put out a post with a video revealing the most exciting feature coming to the Mi TV series. As per the Weibo post, the TV 5 series will soon get the video calling option. The video shared by the company shows how the video call is being made and used on the Mi TV 5.
The Mi TV 5 series went on sale on November 11 in China and is available at a starting price of CNY 3,699 (approx. Rs. 37,200) for the base model of Mi TV 5 Pro with 55-inch screen and CNY 2,999 (approx Rs. 30,200) for the base model of Mi TV 5 with 55-inch screen.
The Mi TV 5 Pro comes with a 4K OLED Quantum Dot screen that offers 108 percent NTSC color gamut and supports HDR10+ support, and MEMC motion smoothening technology. The Mi TV 5, on the other hand, is able to achieve 85% NTSC color gamut and lacks support for HDR10+ and MEMC technology. Both the models feature Amlogic T972 SoC. The Mi TV 5 comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, whereas, the Mi TV 5 Pro has a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Both the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro are available in three sizes – 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch screen sizes. Details about their launch in India are not known at the moment, but with all series of Mi TV 4 being brought to India, we expect Xiaomi to launch the new Mi TV 5 as well.
