Samsung’s upcoming flagship model, the Fold, has been in the limelight recently for some bewildered and perplex reasons, leading to delay in the launch. The company has faced malfunctioning for its display following the reports on the review units. Apparently, iFixit, a US-based website that provides repair manuals for gadgets, was asked to remove Galaxy Fold teardown.
Recently, Samsung had arranged an event for media where it provided them to take a look in its premium upcoming Galaxy Fold and also distributed early review units for testing. In response to that, the company received some unexpected challenges, where reviewers reported the phone’s malfunction and damage to the display after one or two days of use.
A teardown of the Galaxy Fold was carried out by iFixit, which noticed that the handset is ‘alarmingly fragile’ and the company has provided ‘insufficient protection from debris damaging the screen.’ However, Samsung has now indirectly requested the website to remove its teardown post.
In a statement on its website, iFixit wrote, “We were provided with our Galaxy Fold unit by a trusted partner. Samsung has requested, through that partner, that iFixit removes its teardown. We are under no obligation to remove our analysis, legal or otherwise. But out of respect for this partner, whom we consider an ally in making devices more repairable, we are choosing to withdraw our story until we can purchase a Galaxy Fold at retail.”
To rewind, the Samsung Galaxy Fold was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S10 series back in February and was supposed to be launched on May 3 in Europe and by the end of April in the US, which is now delayed.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of the most anticipated flagship devices from the company, which was provided with Infinity Flex Display. The 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED main display and a 4.6″ HD+ Super AMOLED cover screen. Underneath, it is equipped with a 2.84GHz eight-core processor, 12GB RAM and houses a giant 512GB internal storage.
The optic department features triple rear cameras with 16MP Ultra Wide lens, 12MP Wide-angle lens and 12MP Telephoto sensor. The front dual camera features 10MP selfie lens and 8MP RGB depth sensor. For the power backup, it has a 4,380mAh Li-Polymer battery, which comes with fast charging capability through power cord and wireless. For connectivity, the smartphone comes with eSIM and a Nano SIM slot. It runs on Android 9 (Pie).
