BSNL launches Star membership program with exclusive benefits and discounts on prepaid recharges

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) for the first time is bringing an exclusive membership program called “Star membership” to its prepaid customers. The membership offers certain exclusive benefits and discounts to its customers. Without any further ado, let’s check the complete details of the program.

BSNL Star Membership Program for Prepaid Users

BSNL has launched the Star Membership or the Star plan for Rs 498. To be a part of the program, the customers need to recharge their mobile number with STV 498. As part of the plan, the customers can avail unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, 30GB free data, and 1000 SMSes valid for 30 days. The freebies would be valid only for 30 days, whereas the plan validity stays for 365 days. What makes Star membership unique is that the customers can avail exclusive discounts on recharge of STVs during the plan period. For instance, STV 96 would be available to the subscribers for Rs 76. Similarly, customers can avail the STV 447 plan by paying only Rs 407.

It would be interesting to see how the new Star membership program succeeds in attracting new customers to its platform. After the launch of Reliance Jio 4G, many telcos have to bear the brunt, owing to its cheaper data plans and BSNL is not an exception. The state-run telco operator is yet to launch the 4G services in India. Hence, to counteract the stiff competition in telecom space, BSNL has been revamping its recharge plans quite often. The government-led telco has been showering its subscribers with new benefits, freebies and more.

BSNL has been striving hard to sustain in the aggressive telecom space, which is mostly dominated by the leading players like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. The ever-growing competition for establishing supremacy among the telecom operators have led to the emergence of cheaper telecom plans. One of its rivals, Bharti Airtel, already runs a Rewards and Loyalty program, in which the telco distributes the benefits to its customers.  BSNL does not want to stay behind for long, and hence, it has come up with the new Star Membership program.
