Asus is launching the next generation ROG Phone on July 23 at an event in China. Called ROG Phone 2, it is touted to be the world’s first smartphone to be powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset that was released recently by Qualcomm. The new chipset is optimized for gaming, VR, AI, and 5G connectivity. The company has also officially confirmed that the device will use a 120Hz display, which is another key feature. Today, the Chinese benchmark site, Master Lu has released the running score of the ROG Phone which reveals the key specs of the smartphone. Lets’s have a look at the features and scores in detail.
According to Master Lu, the Asus ROG Phone 2 comes with Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 2340 x 1080 display, and 8GB of RAM. 1080p displays are most common these days, especially on gaming smartphones. If we look at the scores, it seems that the SD 855 Plus did not offer any advantage to the handset as the scores are quite low compared to the current top flagship phones like Xiaomi Black Shark 2 or Nubia Red Magic 3. With a score of 387,702, the ROG Phone 2 lags behind OPPO Reno (389,386), Black Shark 2 (441,230) and Nubia Red Magic 3 (406,129) by several points.
The ROG Phone 2 has recently appeared on TENAA, where full specifications have leaked. As per the TENAA listing, the device comes with a 6.59-inch OLED display. Memory options include 8GB and 12GB RAM and 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage. The phone will include a 48MP dual-camera at the rear and a 24MP camera on the front for shooting selfies. Recently, the real-life hands-on images of the device have also leaked online.
