ASUS ROG Phone 2 Gaming Smartphone Coming Soon to India, Receives BIS Certification

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 has now received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, which confirms the imminent launch of the smartphone in India. BIS has certified the ASUS ROG Phone 2 bearing the model number ASUS_I001DE. For those unaware, BIS is a national standard body of India that grants certification to certain products assuring their quality and reliability. The Government of India has made it mandatory for certain products to have BIS certification to check the import of low-grade products into the country.  Recently, Lenovo Z6 Pro has received the BIS certification.

 The Taiwanese company, ASUS has officially unveiled the gaming smartphone ROG Phone 2 in China last month. The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is the world’s first smartphone to sport Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. The base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage has been priced at CNY 3499 in China and hence it may ship with a price of around Rs 35,000 in India. Let’s take a close look at the specifications and features of the smartphone.

Specifications and Features of ASUS ROG Phone 2

The ROG Phone 2 features a 6.39-inch full HD AMOLED display offering a resolution of (1080×2340) pixels. The display has an excellent refresh rate of 120 Hz, 1ms response time, and 10-bit HDR support. The display also has 240GHz touch sampling rate and 49ms touch latency. The smartphone has front-facing stereo speakers, an NXP 9874 Smart Amplifier and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. In the camera front, the smartphone flaunts a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary camera sensor coupled with 13MP wide-angle camera on the rear. For selfies, there is a 24-megapixel front snapper that promises wonderful selfies. Fueling the smartphone is the massive 6000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging support and Quick charge 4.0. 

ASUS ROG Phone 2 also has a liquid cooling system dubbed as Game cool II with a 3D vapor chamber. Apart from this, the smartphone supports a host of connectivity options that include Dual SIM, FM radio, audio jack, and NFC. 

Variants and Pricing

Currently, four variants are available for purchase on JingDong Mall. The base variant, Tencent Elite version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 3499 (approx. Rs 35,000). The second version named Enjoy peace in Beijing comes with a price tag of CNY 3699 (approx. Rs 37,100). The third variant Classic version featuring 12GB RAM and 128GB internal storage costs CNY 5999 (approx. Rs 60,000). The fourth variant Enjoy peace in Beijing version with the same amount of RAM and internal storage has a price tag of CNY 6199 (approx. Rs 62,000).

Apart from this, ASUS announced two more variants Zhinzun version that is priced at CNY and the premium model Ësports Armour Edition that is available for CNY 12,999 (approx 1,30,000). However, there are no details available with regard to RAM and onboard storage of these two variants.
