Xiaomi has finally initiated the seeding of a stable Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 update for the Redmi 6 Pro and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in the country. The company had initially rolled out this program for Android Pie in January 2019, though the Indian users received the first Pie beta in March. It looks like now, all the bugs and issues have been fixed and the beta program is ready for the real deal. The software update would be delivered via the OTA channel to all users in India.
For Redmi 6 Pro users
The update will be delivered as MIUI 10.3.2.0, its version number is 10.3.2.0.PDMMIXM. The update is around 1.6GB in size, so users are advised to download it on a stable Wi-Fi network. The users will receive the May 2019 Android security patch, face unlock for Apps, and the ability to stop the notification shade from opening on the lock screen with the update. Furthermore, the update also includes dual VoLTE support and a Dark Mode. Talking about future prospects, Redmi 6 Pro should receive the Android Q based MIUI update next year.
For Redmi Note 5 Pro users
The software update is 1.6GB heavy and comes with the build number 10.3.2.0.PDMMIXM. Furthermore, this update too includes the May Android security patches and several bug fixes, system stability improvements and other enhancements. Unfortunately, unlike the Redmi 6 Pro update, the update doesn’t include any MIUI changes. Since the Redmi Note 5 Pro came with Android 7.0 Nougat, this could be the last major Android update for this handset. Even though the phone will most likely never upgrade from Pie, it will, however, continue to receive MIUI updates
Both the updates are being rolled out in stages, therefore the update might take a week to reach all devices. It is recommended that you download and install the update as soon as it arrives for your device.
