Blackberry KEYOne mobile phone has been a long awaited smartphone. It was made official in February at Mobile World Congress. It has been expected since then to show its first look as soon as possible but in order to meet production demands it was getting delayed. Finally it has got a release date in US and Canada.
Blackberry and TCI declared on Thursday that the KEYone will go on sale in Canada and US from May 31st, 2017 and the pre bookings of the phone will start from May 18th, 2017 itself. The smartphone will be available from Bell, Bell MTS, Rogers, SaskTel and TELUS Business in Canada. The price of the phone will start from CAD 199 (Rs 10,000 approximately). As far it’s release in US is concerned, the smartphone will cost $549 (Rs 35,300 approximately).
Blackberry has an official hardware partnership with TCL communications in US and Canada. As announced by Blackberry last year that it will not manufacture its smartphones anymore and will outsource the hardware parts from different companies across the world.
Steve Cistulli, President and General Manager for TCL Communication (TCT), North America said – “After all the anticipation and positive response received from the BlackBerry community on the BlackBerry KEYone, it’s an honour to offer this all-new Android-powered BlackBerry smartphone to customers across Canada.”
Release date of the smartphone in India can’t confirmed as of now but few weeks ago, it was speckled on an e-commerce website OnlyMobiles with a price tag of Rs 39,999.
Talking about the specifications, Blackberry KEYone will have a fine metal uni-body design with Blackberry’s iconic hardware keyboard under the display of the phone. The touting feature of the smartphone is the fingerprint reader that is incorporated into the keyboard’s space button.
The mobile phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and a 3,505mAh battery. Blackberry KEYone has 4.5’ full HD display. It comes with a 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a micro SD card.
Coming onto the cameras, the smartphone will have a 12 Megapixels rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and an 8 Megapixels front camera. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box along with BlackBerry’s suite of DTEK security applications.
